Glowbar — Privacy Policy
The short version
Glowbar does not ask for any sensitive permission, has no account system, and never uploads the messages you type. The only data leaving your device is what Google's advertising and billing services need in order to work.
What Glowbar itself stores
The following is written to your device's private app storage and stays there. It is not transmitted anywhere, and the developer cannot see it.
- The message currently in the input box, and up to five recent messages
- Your colour, mode, speed, dot size and glow settings
- A counter of how many banners you have displayed, used only for ad frequency limits
- Whether you have purchased the ad removal
Uninstalling the app deletes all of it. If you have Android Backup enabled, Google may include these settings in your own device backup.
Permissions
Glowbar requests no camera, photo, storage, contacts, location, microphone or phone permission, so Android shows you no permission prompt. The permissions listed on the Play Store page come from Google's advertising and billing libraries and are all "normal" permissions that grant no access to your personal content:
| Permission | Why it is present |
|---|---|
| INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Required by the Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google Play Billing |
| AD_ID and Privacy Sandbox ad services | Advertising identifier, used by Google Mobile Ads |
| com.android.vending.BILLING | Processing the one-time ad removal purchase |
| WAKE_LOCK, FOREGROUND_SERVICE | Declared by Google's own advertising libraries |
Keeping the screen awake while your banner is displayed uses a window flag that needs no permission at all.
Advertising
Glowbar shows ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and process your advertising identifier, approximate location derived from IP address, device information and ad interaction data in order to serve and measure ads. This processing is carried out by Google, not by the developer of Glowbar, who receives only aggregate revenue reporting.
See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
You can reset or delete your advertising identifier at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Glowbar shows Google's consent form on first launch and respects your choice; you can change it later from that same form.
Purchasing the one-time ad removal stops all ad requests from the app.
Purchases
The ad removal purchase is handled entirely by Google Play Billing. Glowbar never sees or stores your name, email address, or any payment details. The app only records a local flag indicating that the purchase exists.
Children
Glowbar is not directed at children under 13 and is not enrolled in the Google Play Families programme. The developer does not knowingly collect any information from children.
Data deletion
Because no personal data is ever sent to the developer, there is nothing held server-side to delete. Uninstalling Glowbar removes all locally stored data. To request information about ad data held by Google, use Google's own privacy controls.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date at the top.
